# flowmap

On a Christmas eve around one million blocks ago... Flowmap launched on mainnet as a way to give anyone the capability to claim ownership of digital real estate land of a Flow block.

The concept of Flowmap transforms the Flow blockchain *itself* into virtual assets that become part of an emerging Metaverse.

Flowmap creates ownership of the virtual assets through inscriptions. Every block in the Flow network is inscribed and mapped onto Flowmap. Meaning that each virtual asset in Flowmap is linked to a specific block on the network.

In more technical terms, this is achieved by inscribing "blocknumber.flowmap" unto a cadence resource.

## What is Flowmap?

### Ownership of Digital Real Estate

> Owning a Flowmap means you own virtual land in this new digital world. You have the freedom and control over your digital real estate. You can sell it, trade it, or keep it, just like traditional property.

### Versatile Metaverse Land

> The simplicity of how Flowmaps are inscribed allow them to have Metaverse worlds in various forms, providing potentially many unique experiences for users.

### Spatial Representation of Block Data

> Through consensus rules of Flowmap Theory the data structure of Flow blocks can be represented spatially.

Please keep in mind that Flowmap is still in its early infancy. It should be viewed as a simple and fun experiment only.

Flowmap is ever-evolving: Claiming ownership of flow blocks through text inscriptions make them versatile so the ideas of what they can be are boundless.
